hi guys, i’m looking for advice about a career decision and i want some perspective from this community. I’m mainland chinese, there is not lot of us on this sub and of the discussion here about china is mostly speculation of a war, not exactly useful info.
I’ve been prepping for quite a few years now and did most things suggested for prepping in a urban setting. But looking at recent conflicts in the world, i feel like there is only so much you can do as an individual in a certain area, what really improves your odds is getting out of said area.
While “preppers” sometimes get a bad rap in pop culture and mocked in reality tv shows, it can be a fun and useful endeavor for the man who wants to ensure his protection and survival when shtf (sh*t hits the fan). Prepping not only means acquiring supplies for emergencies (though that’s part of it; see: bug-out bags , bug-in bags , emergency water ), but also learning skills ( we have a whole section for those ) and acquiring new knowledge about survival strategy and methodology (see: the survival library). This can be an expensive hobby, but it certainly doesn’t have to be — especially if you focus on the essentials for supplies, then go about learning the skills (many of which can be practiced in the backyard).
I can easily say that i watch more youtube than i do normal television, especially when it comes to youtube survival shows, prepper methods, and homesteading hacks. Being able to see a lot of the projects, methods, and tips that content creators upload every single day is a great way to learn things that i might not have mastered, or to find new ideas for weekend projects and ways to innovate my own self-sufficient journey. If you search for survival or prepping content on youtube, you will have countless of hours of outdoor, or in-the-home hacks at your disposal. And the best thing is, it’s free, it doesn’t cost a subscription, and you can pause it and save it for a later day.
